Amanda started her career as an interaction designer at Apple exploring how to create interfaces for emerging technologies such as digital cameras and audio interfaces. Since then, she has led UCD efforts for many industries on many different platforms.  Some of her work has involved websites, web applications, children's software, multimedia, appliances, and electronic devices both for mainstream consumers and the disabled.  In recent years she has focused her energy on exploiting user centered design as a strategic tool to align business strategy, design and user needs.  She worked for the last four years in New Zealand mentoring companies to use design strategically and as an adjunct fellow at the HitLab at the University of Canterbury.

When not evangelizing the power of good design, she spends her time with her kiwi husband, four kids, two cats and a dog beachcombing and going on adventures.
